Latest News…The Nave ceiling refurbishment project
At last the project is under way! It is expected that the work will take circa 8 weeks.
On Monday April 18th the scaffolders moved in and by Thursday 21st April the entire nave was scaffolded and a floor laid for the woodworkers and decorators to work from.
The next stage of the project is for the boarding (where the ceiling meets the walls) to be removed and all the accumulated waste to be taken away from the void.
The wiring for the new lighting system will be run through the void before the new/original panels are put in place.
The woodworker will wherever necessary make good the entire ceiling ready for preparation and decoration.
The decorated area over the chancel arch will be blended into the wall colour with white strapping and gold bosses.
Our contractor for all this work and the painting of the ceiling is a local company, Goodsells.
For the main central celure a specialist, Tom Organ of the Wallpainting Workshop, will be decorating all the bosses in bright colours backed with gold foliate.
The final stage of the project will be the installation of a new, up-to-date lighting system and the removal of the chandeliers, by David Dunn our selected lighting contractor.
