We were challenged by the weather for the play performances and sadly had to abandon the Saturday night performance as the weather was so bad.
The Sunday matinee saw the sun shine as some 80 people tittered, guffawed and generally thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The Cricketers Cream Tea seemed to go down well and the final performance on the Sunday evening started well but rain came down once again but the merry band of thespians continue bravely to complete it all.
Then last Saturday saw our second Tower Dinner… the first in 2012 was a hit and whilst this one was not so hotly contested there were 40 plus attendees who gathered for the dinner of freshly cooked paella prepared by Hari Covert and then three lucky couples were drawn from the attendees to partake of their dinner on the roof!
Following tapas nibbles in the churchyard washed down with Sangria the roof winners climbed the staircase to the top whilst the others all sat down at one big table placed under the church bell tower and duly tucked in.
It was a great night and for us was the culmination of a busy fundraising period that overall we hope once all expenses have been covered will add circa £2,500 to our funds to continue supporting the church in their upkeep. The focal point for so many in the village means we need ever increasing sums of money on hand to fund projects to maintain the church.
Thank you to all those who helped in whatever way – we felt both events provided something very different for our community and we look forward to welcoming new and old faces to our next fundraising event… the second teddy parachute jump at the church fete on September 10th… watch this space for more details!!!
