Riverside Pop Up Gallery… our heartfelt thanks

Well, we were not sure what to expect at the recent “End of Season” Auction sale of some 80 plus items donated for the sale. The total proceeds from this sale were to be generously donated by June & Tim Chapman to YCPS funds so there was a great potential to bolster our funds from this single event.

We are delighted to report that along with the donations tin that collected monies from gallery visitors over the summer with monies collected  for their cup of tea or coffee the auction itself raised over £550 on the night so we hope in total a little over £600 overall which is a truly magnificent effort.

Our thanks to all those who attended and entered into the spirit of the event and we cannot thank June enough for all the hard work she put into the evening and making the decision to support YCPS – it was a very generous gesture and we hope we can support her in the future.

If you enjoyed this event do not forget you can support the YCPS at our next one – our “Spirit of Yalding” drinks stall at the Yalding Yuletide Market on the 1st December.

Also please save the date of May23rd for our big charity event of 2019 when we will be holding a big gourmet dinner with Auction… more details to follow soon.

When We Are Married…our next fundraiser…

We are pleased to announce that the next “Drawing Room Drama”, the latest in a popular series of rehearsed readings performed in private houses in Yalding, will take place in November

The production is “When We Are Married”, a comic play by J.B.Priestley, which is a story of a threesome of pompous Yorkshire officials and their long-suffering wives in the early part of the 20th century. Michael Stewart, the plays director, has generously agreed to donate the profits to the YCPS.

There will be four performances, the evenings of Friday 24th, Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th of November (7:30pm) with a matinee on Sunday 26th (3:00pm) as well

31.10.2017 UPDATE:

We are now sold out for all performances – We are only taking waitlist bookings for any returns or last minute number changes. Please complete the form below and we will contact you if you are lucky!

Tickets can be purchased from Yalding Post Office or via Gail Johnson by completing the form below

Teddy Parachutes again…

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The YCPS are to repeat last year’s successful teddy parachute jump at this year’s Church Fete. The event will take place this year on 10th September 2016.

So how brave is your teddy? We plan to find out.

This summer, we plan to give you the chance to test your teddy’s bravery again by offering him (or her, for Edwina bears) the chance to parachute off the church tower.

We would ask you to make the parachutes and supply the teddies. There will be prizes for the best-dressed teddy and for the most sponsorship. We hope to have a ‘paratedic’ on hand in case (heaven forbid!) any teddy suffers any injuries.

We found last year that parachutes can easily be constructed by tying string to a supermarket plastic carrier bag.

Sponsorship forms have already been distributed at some schools and playgroups. They are also available at Yalding PO or via the YCPS website.

Sponsorship money (at least £5 for children and £10 for adults) should be brought with you and handed in when you register your teddy.

Please bring your teddy, sponsorship form, sponsorship donations and parachute to the registration table at the back of the church by 1pm.

The teddy should have its name firmly attached to its chest so that it can be easily identified before and after the jump.

Sponsorship Forms can be downloaded here –  2016 sponsorship form

Phew….

Cover v4It has been a hectic couple of weeks with the Outside Edge performances in Parsonage Farmhouse Gardens followed closely by the second tower dinner with Hari Covert…

We were challenged by the weather for the play performances and sadly had to abandon the Saturday night performance as the weather was so bad.

The Sunday matinee saw the sun shine as some 80 people tittered, guffawed and generally thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The Cricketers Cream Tea seemed to go down well and the final performance on the Sunday evening started well but rain came down once again but the merry band of thespians continue bravely to complete it all.

Tower Dinner Winners...Then last Saturday saw our second Tower Dinner… the first in 2012 was a hit and whilst this one was not so hotly contested there were 40 plus attendees who gathered for the dinner of freshly cooked paella prepared by Hari Covert and then three lucky couples were drawn from the attendees to partake of their dinner on the roof!

Following tapas nibbles in the churchyard washed down with Sangria the roof winners climbed the staircase to the top whilst the others all sat down at one big table placed under the church bell tower and duly tucked in.

It was a great night and for us was the culmination of a busy fundraising period that overall we hope once all expenses have been covered will add circa £2,500 to our funds to continue supporting the church in their upkeep. The focal point for so many in the village means we need ever increasing sums of money on hand to fund projects to maintain the church.

Thank you to all those who helped in whatever way – we felt both events provided something very different for our community and we look forward to welcoming new and old faces to our next fundraising event… the second teddy parachute jump at the church fete on September 10th… watch this space for more details!!!
